"BEST IN SHOW" NAMED AT CFA INTERNATIONAL CAT SHOW IN SAN MATEO, CALIFORNIA, ON NOVEMBER 19, 2006
Winners Chosen From 721 Pedigreed Felines
SAN MATEO, CA -- Jadon Comefly With Me Of Kenkat, a blue Persian spay cat, owned by Donna Cook, Susan Cook Henry and Leah Fowler of Warrenton, Va, was named "Best-in-Show" from a field of 721 pedigreed felines showcased at the 19th annual Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) International Cat Show. The show was held November 17- 19, 2006, in San Mateo, California, at the San Mateo County Expo Center.
"This year's 'Best-in-Show' cat showcases the attributes of the Persian breed very well," said Pam DelaBar, president of the CFA. "As always, the competition was intense, but she gave a wonderful presentation in the judging rings." Comparable to the Westminster Kennel Club dog show in terms of pedigreed prestige, the CFA International Cat Show is the largest cat show event in the Western Hemisphere. The 2007 CFA International Cat Show will be held in San Mateo again next year. The "Best-in-Show" cat, a five year old blue Persian spay that was also chosen best long hair in Premiership, was named from a field of the show's top six longhair and shorthair felines in three categories: Championship, Kittens and Premiership (neutered males/spayed females). Judges also selected the Best of Breed cats in each of the 50 pedigreed breeds and divisions in competition. The show's other top five winning cats are:
Best Shorthair Kitten
Best Longhair Kitten
Best Longhair Championship
Best Shorthair Championship
Best Shorthair Premiership
The CFA International Cat Show benefits the Winn Feline Foundation, a non-profit organization devoted to the support of feline health-related studies. Related Link
