CFA LEGISLATIVE ALERT - CALIFORNIA AB 1634
UPDATE June 14, 2007

 California fanciers;  

We still do not know the Senate policy committee for AB 1634 or the Committee Consultant who will establish the organizational OPPOSE list.   

To Do NOW:

• Send a fax to all 40 Senators.  This would be a huge job individually, but it can be done easily by going to the NAIA Trust page.  Go to the TAKE ACTION area at the bottom of the page, where there are points that you can pick from, modify or add your own words. Then you can choose to automatically fax or email to senators.   

• Watch the CFA web site and mailing lists for an ALERT when we know the Committee assignment.  The bill has been amended now 5 times and Mr. Levine said today on the radio they are working on new amendments.  We hope to see a draft so letters to the Committee can be directed to any new provisions.  

• Contact your own Senator by phone or FAX - How to find your Senator.  Visit your Senator's District office and speak with an aide.  Senators are often in their districts on Fridays.  

• Read the summary of opposition points.  

• Have your veterinarian send a letter to the CVMA Board of Governors asking them to withdraw their sponsorship.  Your veterinarian should fax to:

  Print these letters from veterinarians to the CVMA. These will help your veterinarian understand why opposition to this bill is important.

• California fanciers and out of state fanciers - go to the PetPAC ACTION CENTER and sign their new PETITION for the Senate.
