    The CFA International Cat Show is Coming to Atlanta! The show, to be held at the Georgia International Convention Center, will feature over 700 pedigreed cats competing for the title of “Best in Show”. Visitors to the show will be met by members of CFA’s Ambassador Program, who will offer details about the show, hand out show guides, answer any and all questions, plus conduct guided tours of the show hall at scheduled times. CFA’s feline ambassadors will be happy to make the dream of touching a wavy-coated Cornish Rex, or the suede-soft body of a Sphynx, a reality. Cats from a number of breeds will be gracing their breed booth displays, and will be ready, willing and able to take all the petting and loving the public chooses to shower on them.     October 15, 2009 - 4Kids Entertainment Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, Barry Stagg, joined by American Kennel Club® (AKC) Chief Financial Officer James Stevens and The Cat Fanciers’ Association® (CFA) President Pam DelaBar, visited the New York Stock Exchange and rang The Opening Bell to celebrate the inaugural “Meet the Breeds” event at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. The event, which runs from October 17-18, is the world’s largest showcase of cats and dogs and offers the public the opportunity to meet nearly 200 breeds and interact with dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. 4Kids Entertainment/4sight licensing solutions is the master licensing agent for the AKC and CFA.     October 14, 2009 - The Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) and American Kennel Club (AKC) visited the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York City's Times Square to celebrate AKC and CFA's Meet the Breeds(TM), held October 17th and 18th at the Javits Center in NYC. Meet the Breeds is the world's largest showcase of cats and dogs. In honor of the occasion, Gina DiNardo, Meet the Breeds(TM) Chairperson, rang the NASDAQ Opening Bell on behalf of leading toymaker JAKKS Pacific (JAKKS), a licensee of the AKC and CFA and a sponsor of the upcoming Meet the Breeds(TM) event.     MEET THE BREEDS ART CONTEST:
    Draw, paint or design with the aid of a computer a purebred dog or cat and compete against students in your grade and for Best in Show overall and other categories for exciting prizes! This contest is open to students who, on June 15, 2009, are at least 6 years of age and under 18 years in age and are enrolled in grades 1 to 12 (or their schools’ equivalent).     Best in Show 2008Congratulations to the Best in Show at the 2008 CFA International Cat Show held in Atlanta, GA. Grand Champion Kuorii Santos of Cuzzoe, a black Persian male was selected as "Best in Show" at the 2008 CFA International Cat Show. "Santos" was bred in Italy and is owned by Justin Pelletier and Brandon Moore from Raleigh, NC, and Paolo Carnevaletti of Azzano Decimo, Italy, and Linda Acomb of Fallbrook, CA.     Congratulations to CFA-Iams Cat Championship Winners! Eighteen-month-old Grand Champion Platina Luna Blade Runner, a Russian Blue cat from Greensboro, North Carolina, was named Best-in-Show at the CFA-Iams Cat Championship held at Madison Square Garden on October 18-19. First runner-up was Deydream High Hopes, a 3 ½-year-old Manx Grand Premier from Easthampton, New Jersey and second runner-up Tigerboy Keymaster of Wishes, a 6-month-old Exotic kitten from Hong Kong.     California AB 1634, proposing mandatory neuter/spay of all cats and dogs over the age of 6 months, was withdrawn by the author (Assembly Member Lloyd Levine) during a hearing of the Senate Committee on Local Government on July 11, 2007.     The Cat Fanciers' Association supports the use of low-cost neuter/spay programs and recognizes the need to fund these programs in innovative ways. Several states now offer vanity automobile license plates as a source of money to increase awareness of neutering or spaying cats and dogs as well as to provide a pool of funds for low-cost or free neutering programs.
