CFA Public Relations and Marketing DepartmentThe public relations and marketing efforts for The Cat Fanciers' Association are handled out of CFA Public Relations and Marketing Department. Initially established as the CFA Public Relations Department in January 1988, marketing was added to the department's name in June 2000 when the efforts to market the association took on increased importance. Public Relations: In addition to providing information to all segments of the news media (print, television, radio and electronic), the department provides tools for our member clubs to reach the news media with information on their upcoming CFA cat shows and other events. The department mans the CFA educational booths at cat shows, veterinarian conferences, pet fairs, humane conferences and other trade shows. A wide variety of educational/ informational pamphlets and videos have been produced to provide the general public with information on responsible pet ownership. Marketing: On the marketing side the department is charged with securing corporate sponsorship of various programs the association has. From the Junior Showmanship program (youth education project) and the CFA International Cat show and the CFA-Iams Cat Championship at Madison Square Garden), the marketing efforts have been successful and varied. Additionally, the CFA Public Relations & Marketing Department handles functions for the Winn Feline Foundation, which CFA established in 1968 to fund feline health studies, and the CFA Foundation, established in 1990 to collect, preserve and exhibit the works of art and literature related to cats.
