    Junior Showmanship Program:
    Off to a Great Start!

The Junior Showmanship program got off to a great start, with the first two trial shows being held in Florida and Staten Island. Numerous other shows have since been held around the country, and the kids are doing a great job! Our judges are very impressed with their knowledge and handling of the cats, and the audiences thoroughly enjoy themself.

Junior Showmanship The first Junior Showmanship ring was held at the City Beautiful Cat Club Show, in Deland, Florida on April 3, 1999. Kitty Angell judged this first ring and said she had a wonderful time. While it was a learning experience for both the judge and the exhibitors, everyone involved was impressed with how smoothly everything went. The children each brought their cats to the judging table, presented them to Ms. Angell so that the cat's best features were displayed to best advantage, and answered questions about the breed standard for their breed and how best to care for their cats. The overall winner of the first Junior Showmanship was an 11 year old, showing her Norwegian Forest Cat "Stormin' Norman."

Several upcoming CFA cat shows have planned Junior Showmanship rings and the program is quickly becoming very popular with the juniors.
